Strata is a permanent installation and public art piece for Mesa, AZ city hall.
A stainless steel sculpture featuring an underside of curved LED panels on the underside of the sculpture ---
Streaming real-time climate data corresponding to day-night cycles, weather phenomena, and landscape changes, as well as city-related data such as the introduction of new trees, energy usage, and water consumption, a dynamic virtual landscape featuring 2 distinct environments with water and sand simulations in Unreal Engine.
On this project I was responsible for development of the Unreal component of the sculpture-- including creating several Niagara particle sims and a fully generative and data-reactive environment and weather systems, as well as developing the Blueprint system responsible for creating realtime changes and connecting to our climate data API.
I also created architectural previz renders of the city hall central garden to aid in the fabrication process of the sculpture and prototype variations on Unreal content.
